Troy at the south end of Boca Grande island. His first breakers.
Our middle son Nathan, his wife Add and 4 year old Troy have been visiting from Thailand and decided to start the boating season with us this year. They’ll travel with us from Sarasota, through the Okeechobee canal and on up to St Augustine before renting a car to get them back to Tampa airport.
We meant to leave Marina Jack at 7 AM Wednesday Apr 5, but when I started the engines the controls failed to engage the starboard engine. Fortunately the company that makes them is in Sarasota, so we got it fixed and were underway by 9:30. We made it to Boca Grande Island by 3:30 with still time enough to take Troy to the state park beach at the south end.
This was Troy’s first ocean experience. Although it was just the Gulf, the windy weather had kicked up 2 foot breakers which were just right for him to run in and out of.
This was our 3rd visit to Boca Grande island. We do like it, but also it is one of the very few marinas that can take our boat between Sarasota and Ft Myers.
Loved your pictures. Thanks
